A bluegrass powerhouse
Scott Slay and The Rail is an Americana, Folk and Bluegrass band based in the beautiful Rocky Mountain area of Denver, CO.
The five piece group combines bluegrass, country, folk, and traditional "trad" compositions to produce a modern sound. Ultimately, the band joined together to present songs written by Scott and his friends centered around both real and make believe life experiences, finding influence from the bands like the Punch Brothers, Nickel Creek, The Lonesome River Band, Mountain Heart, Sam Bush, and more. Subject matters are tragic, joyful and inexhaustible.
Scott Slay and The Rail performs often in the Denver and surrounding areas, favoring breweries for their high energy and comfortable environment.
The band was humbled to be featured at the RockyGrass and Telluride Bluegrass Festivals in 2018. Scott Slay was a featured artist with Lonesome River Band’s Sammy Shelor with the group Big Virginia Sky at the 2015 IBMA conference in Raleigh, NC, and was awarded 2nd place Guitar and Mandolin respectively at the 2018 RockyGrass Instrumental competition.
